A required fire-resistance period is a design input. It does not, by itself, tell an applicator which product or coating thickness belongs on every steel member.
The period is established by the fire strategy and design.
UK projects commonly reference 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes, but the correct requirement for a building or element must come from the responsible project design and applicable guidance.
Steel members do not all heat at the same rate.
Section geometry, exposure and design temperature influence the assessed coating build. An approved loading table or schedule translates the design inputs into member-specific requirements.
Application follows the issued schedule.
We plan coat passes and access around those member requirements. Where design information changes, the coating schedule should be revised by the responsible party before affected work proceeds.
