Fire duration versus coating build: why one rating is not one thickness.
A stated fire-resistance period is important, but it is not a universal intumescent coating thickness. This guide explains the member, design and approved-system information that the responsible project parties use to establish an applicable coating schedule.
The resistance period is a requirement, not a universal coating instruction.
A fire strategy may call for 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes, but that period does not prescribe one product or coating thickness across every member. The responsible design and product-system information establish how the requirement applies to the project steelwork.
Steel members do not share one heating profile.
Member geometry, exposed perimeter, section factor, number of faces exposed and limiting temperature where provided can influence the assessed protection requirement. The steel schedule or equivalent member data is therefore part of the technical starting point, rather than an optional pricing detail.
The approved system connects the inputs to an issued schedule.
Tested and assessed system information is used with the project inputs to establish member-specific requirements. Premier Blasting can plan application against the issued route; it does not calculate a build, choose a product or replace the responsible technical parties.
